Who we are

Women Scream was born in Los Angeles during a season of collective and personal heaviness, a time when Sara was carrying more than she could hold alone. What began as an intuitive call to create space became a necessary response: a place to release what was living in the body, and to do so in community.

As a coach, Sara was hearing the same truths from women again and again: quiet pain, exhaustion from holding everything together, anger, loneliness, and a deep need to be witnessed. She decided to host her first gathering with other women to breathe, speak honestly, and let go without judgment.

Early gatherings offered women a rare opportunity to come together, move, breathe, speak honestly, and let go collectively. As the experience grew, so did the realization that spaces like this were deeply needed.

That call led back to a long-held dream of collaboration. Sara invited her longtime soul sister and creative partner, Vilmaris, to help expand the work. Raised in the Deep South, Sara in Mississippi and Vilmaris in Tennessee, both Latina and from working-class families rooted in community care, they grew up sensing that more connection, authenticity, and humanity were possible in the world.

Vilmaris’ path to yoga certification and embodied practices deepened the offering. Together, they expanded Women Scream beyond Los Angeles and into Washington, D.C., evolving from a single gathering into a collaborative, bi-coastal practice rooted in release, connection, and collective care.

Today, Women Scream exists as a shared movement rooted in release, connection, and collective care, offering women space to take up room, feel deeply, and be held together across cities and seasons.
